What does having a controlled air conditioner mean?
We install a receiver on your air conditioner at no expense to you. Then during peak times we control your AC in cycles, turning it off and on. Surveying our membership we have been informed they feel there is little or no inconvenience. Remember, your participation in this program will help control your electric rate.
I thought you wanted us to use the power....
Yes, it's true that load growth helps to keep your rates stable. But, extreme hot and cold days are like the Christmas shopping rush; everyone wants a Power Ranger the day before Christmas and there aren't enough in the stores. If we all bought what we needed throughout the alarm there would be no last minute rush. Power usage is the same. It's only when we all want to use all of it at the same time that we need to work together to control the peaks.
CYCLED AIR?
Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric cycles the compressor in the air conditioner. Your furnace fan can continue to circulate cool air throughout the home. Approximate cycled control, 15 minutes on - 20 minutes off. Control is implemented during hot days. There is little or no inconvenience to you.
