Energy Intelligent Farm and Business Grant

Dollar incentives available for high efficiency lighting use.

Because of the Minnesota Omnibus Energy Bill, utilities have begun to offer their customers Demand Side Management Programs (DSM). Our power supplier is offering a program that fulfills the requirements of this bill. They call it "The Energy Intelligent Farm and Business" Grant Program..

This grant program is designed to solicit proposals for energy and capacity saving projects from farm and business owners. SWCE is looking for qualified customers who are interested in the replacement of their existing lighting systems with high efficiency lighting. Others who may qualify are those customers willing to upgrade to efficient lighting that goes beyond state and local codes on new construction.

A few of the guidelines are as follows:

Lighting grants must be applied for and approved by Steele-Waseca before any project work is begun.
Work on a project must be completed within six months of pre-approval. The member agrees to participate in a project evaluation upon the completion of the conservation improvement.
Funds will be dispersed upon completion of the pre-approved project.
Projects must maintain minimum power factor of 90%. The power factor is found on your lighting specification sheets that we must have to accept applications. We will work with your electrician on the project.
If the lighting system has a payback of less than a year the project is not eligible for funds.
